UST ParaKnife FS 2.0 Review

The problem with a lot of knives I’ve used is their weight - a good pocket knife can have a real impact on the weight of your pack. The Paraknife FS 2.0 from Ultimate Survival Technologies changes all that with its barebones ultra-light design that also manages to fit in a wide array of useful tools such as might more often be found on a heavy, bulky multi-tool. It’s a marvelous device for anyone looking to shave a few ounces off their pack.

The ParaKnife FS 2.0 is 2.3mm thick and is made of stainless steel coated with a black-oxide finish. The 1.5” blade is rust-resistant and durable. It is sharp enough that I was easily able to cut a piece of printer paper held loosely in the air!

I’m impressed by how many tools UST manages to cram onto this knife - a 2” ruler, a saw, hex wrenches, and a bottle opener are all integrated into the knife itself. Attached to the back of the knife is a length of paracord that can be unwound and used for rope in an emergency, or even unraveled so that the interior threads can be used for fishing line. Included with the knife is a flint fire starter, that is used with the blade to create sparks to start a fire in just about any conditions.

The protective sheath that is also included seems to be of good quality, and allows for the knife to be stored safely and securely. On the back there is a slot where you can stow the fire starter. With the included carabiner you could clip it onto the exterior of a backpack, or to a belt for quick access.

This is a really handy little gadget. It’s quality and versatility are top notch, and it is quite reasonably priced at $9.99. I would definitely recommend the ParaKnife FS 2.0 to anyone in the market for a lightweight and versatile knife or multitool, or for survival prep enthusiasts.
