Flying over Clatskanie

Aerial views of Clatskanie, Oregon, on a somber winter day. Flying over rivers, farms, forests, and a rural community in the Pacific Northwest.

It's unfortunate that the once vibrant farm fields here are being paved over to build soon-to-be decrepit trailer courts, and that the town's riverside center has been neglected in favor of urban sprawl.

Still, there are still pretty landcapes left largely intact, though the threat of industrialization and sprawling slums looms large over green fields. The Lower Columbia Region desperately needs measures in place to preserve wild forests and productive farms. We need to consolidate communities and make them sustainable, and the first step in accomplishing that is to halt sprawl.
